I don't know where to begin. I can't believe the news that was announced today by Governor Wolfe that school will not be conducted in the building for the remainder of the school year. March 13 was our last day in the classroom, but we will remain a class, now just online!
I want to hear from all of you as much as you can, but make sure you have permission. I am planning on putting together a Google Meet meeting with all of my homeroom students. I will send out invitations on your gapp email. Please watch for it and accept my invitation. It will be very informal; just a meet and greet where you can share whatever you'd like. If you have something you have made while we have been out of the classroom, and you'd like to share it with your classmates, go for it!
I am not 100% sure on how to "get around" Google, so please be patient with me. If you log on to my classroom and you see Mrs. Laudeman's name next to an assignment, click on it. We are working together! Always email me with questions, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. You can also join in on my office hours Tues and Thurs from 1-3pm.
The next Chromebook distribution is Wednesday April 15 and packet distribution is April 17. If you haven't signed up for either, and you need one, please let me know ASAP.
The first week's assignments were wonderful! I was very glad to hear how many of you were glad to be home with your family. The activities you have been doing are fantastic! I smiled at everyone of your writing prompts. I really do miss seeing you all in class, and I wish we could have one more day to say a sincere "goodbye."
If you have your endangered species project complete, please share it with me. You can upload it via email, take a picture of yourself, create a slide show, read it to me...whatever works.
I feel as if we were robbed of so much. The months of March through May are when I really begin to feel a connection with each of you. We have gotten over the awkwardness of the newness and Christmas break. We were just starting to all come out of our shells and be more comfortable with each other. I hope when we do see each other in the fall, when you are 5th graders, you come to my room. I would really appreciate that.
So for the time being, this is how we will finish off the school year. Mrs. Laudeman have planned the next 6 weeks out and you are going to do great.
Stay active! Stay safe! And be YOU!!
Air Hugs and high fives,
Mrs. Herring
