Students will begin to read Life at the Top. They have their vocabulary words on a handout, in their textbook, and next week they will have it in their interactive notebook. Students in periods 1 & 2 have them in their Vocabulary Power Journal. Test will include vocabulary used in sentences. We started to discuss text structure in class and how you can use it/identify them in many publications. We have also discussed pronouns, which are words used to replace a noun. The reading test will be next week, so please encourage studying vocabulary and text features. We will have 2 writing responses also. Students need to provide evidence from the text in one of the 2 prompts. Both prompts must have an intro and conclusion. Students will be engaged in English Language Arts. We will focus on the Common Core Standards which will prepare the students for the PSSA/Common Core Tests. We will be recalling information, building skills/concept areas, using strategic thinking and using extended thinking.
