We have been working extremely hard this week with our writing.  We used the 5 steps to writing a great paper and wrote about being President of the United States.  Some students wrote 2 sloppy copies until we were both happy with the results.  When the final copy comes home, you will notice the sloppy copy and the final.  Take note on how hard they worked. Tomorrow is the Halloween party/parade.  Students will enter the HS stadium near the softball field and exit near the baseball field.  If you are a PTO parent, you may enter the building at 200pm.  There is usually a line, so don't wait.  We are trying to eliminate the mad chaos in the bathroom when the kids are getting dressed.  Try to wear as much of your costume as possible, ie pantyhose, etc.  Remember no simulated weapons.  If you are picking your child up tomorrow before dismissal, please send in a note. Tonight's homework is to finish the final copy of the President letter if it isn't finished in class.  There

There is NOT a spelling test this week.  Monday October 31 will be So You Want to Be President  prestest. We will be discussing the election process as our reading lesson this week.  Please engage your child in conversation about the election.  You don't have to divulge your choice, but discuss how you may choose your nominee. Tomorrow is wear crazy socks!  Tops and bottoms must be dress code. Have a great week! Mrs. Herring

The grammar test will be Monday.  Students are studying dependent and independent clauses.  If a dependent clause starts the sentence, it should be followed by a comma.  Independent clauses can stand alone; they don't need the other part of the sentence to make sense. The reading test is still scheduled for Friday.  Review main idea, supporting details, and the vocabulary.  Also, everyone has a friendly letter to write, using page 143 as a guide.  At least 3 vocabulary words should be included in the letter. The spelling test is Friday, List 5.  Everyone also has to choose 10 pictures from 1-20 and draw a picture to show the meaning. Please send in your party money as soon as possible.  T-shirt sizes are needed of the field trip t-shirt. Have a great night! Mrs. Herring

All students have List 5 in spelling to do in ABC order...just words 1-20, no bonus. All students should have finished their Letters Home vocabulary in their reading notebooks.  If not, that is homework. The reading test will be Friday and the grammar test will be Monday. Next week is Red Ribbon week.  Monday students can wear sweats, Tuesday students can wear crazy socks, Wednesday students can wear their school code clothes backwards, Thursday students can have crazy hair, and Friday students can dress in NS spirit clothes until the parade. Have a great week! Mrs. Herring
