Spelling: We will resume on the 17th with List 11. Students will get new lists in their Friday folders. Please do not lose. If the list does get misplaced, the lists are in the reading workbook and on Mrs. Gierka's homework helpline.
Grammar: We will be testing tomorrow on plural possessive nouns. I encourage the students to write the singular word, then plural, then possessive. This helps to see the transformation of the word before adding the 's or s'.
Reading: We will be testing tomorrow on So You Want to be President. Students should study their vocabulary and main idea, fact and opinion. We have also been practicing Text Dependent Analysis questions which enforce using the information provided to support the answer.
This week we will be reviewing Unit 2 in reading with a benchmark assessment. Students will be applying skills learned in reading and concepts learned in grammar. We will also be taking DIBELS tests which measure the students words per minute and comprehension in a timed setting.
Continue to read toward AR goals. Students have been improving greatly and I am very pleased with their progress.
Please continue to make sure your child is dressed for the weather. Keep in mind we do need to practice fire drills in all kinds of weather, so dress warm.
Have a great week,
Mrs. Herring
